Let's just give it 2 you straight: Da Brat is about to be a mom.
The 48-year-old "Funkdafied" rapper is pregnant and expecting her first child with wife Jesseca "Judy" Harris-Dupart later this year.
"BLESSINGS all 2023," Da Brat wrote on Instagram Feb. 21 while displaying her baby bump in an unbuttoned Chicago Bulls jersey. "Thanks so much to @hopefertility for helping us on our journey."
While Da Brat—born Shawntae Harris—admitted that she didn't see herself as a mom for much of her life, all things changed when she married Judy, who has three kids from a previous relationship, in February 2022.
"I never thought I was going to have kids," she told People in an interview published Feb. 21. "I just thought it wasn't in the cards for me. I've had a great career, a full life. I felt like, because I didn't get pregnant earlier on, then it just wasn't going to happen for me."
But when Jesseca came into her life, Da Brat said she started looking at life differently.
"I was like, I want a little me with you," she recalled. "Something special from the both of us that we can share and raise and love unconditionally."
More than four months into her pregnancy, Da Brat said she doesn't have any cravings. The Brat Loves Judy star also has no desire to slow down as she plans to continue co-hosting The Rickey Smiley Morning Show and Dish Nation.
And while fans may know Da Brat for her tough persona and fearless lyrics, the rapper says she has become a bit more emotional these days.
"Everything makes me cry," she told People. "If someone wins American Idol, I cry. I'm like, I'm tougher than that!"
