Ahoy, matey, how about a free piece of fish?
In honor of Talk Like a Pirate Day on Tuesday, Long John Silver's is offering a free piece of fish or chicken to anyone who, well, talks like a pirate.
And for people willing to go a step further and dress like a pirate, the restaurant chain will be giving away a two-piece basket of fish or chicken.
The offer is only valid at participating restaurants on Tuesday, Sept. 19 and does not include a drink. According to Long John Silvers, it is not valid with online or delivery orders, and is limited to one per person, per visit.
What is Talk Like a Pirate Day?
International Talk Like a Pirate Day was created in 1995 by John Baur and Mark Summers and is celebrated annually on Sept. 19.
According to the National Day Calendar, it is one of three "talking" days on the calendar during the year: joining National Talk Like Shakespeare Day on April 23 and National Talk in an Elevator Day on the last Friday in July.
If you really want to get into the holiday spirit, here's how the National Day Calendar advises to pick your pirate name:
- Pick a color
- Choose an animal
- Name a profession
