A suspect was arrested after allegedly breaking into the home of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass early Sunday morning, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
Police said an individual, later identified as Ephraim Matthew Hunter, 29, smashed a window to gain entry into the Getty House around 6:40 a.m. local time Sunday morning. Bass was in the home at the time, police said.
"The Los Angeles Police Department responded and took a suspect into custody without incident. There were no injuries to the occupants during this incident," the LAPD said on X. The department said the investigation is ongoing.
“This morning at about 6:40 AM, an intruder broke into Getty House through a window. Mayor Bass and her family were not injured and are safe. The Mayor is grateful to LAPD for responding and arresting the suspect,” read a statement from the mayor's office.
Police said Hunter was booked on a felony burglary charge.
